A sweet surprise

As I was unloading and checking my camera this past week, i noticed one shot on what I thought was an empty CF card. I remembered Riley playing with my camera before I left for New Hampshire, and I knew she took a picture. I expected it to be a wall or the ceiling, some unimportant shot, but it looks like she captured her first self portrait.

This adorable picture warmed my heart through some cold New England nights.

Oh, how I love this child.

Birthday pictures

Carrie took our birthday pictures again this year, and i am beyond thrilled with them. We took them at Bear Lake and I get choked up every time I see them. When Riley looks at these in years to come, I want her to see she is fully and completely loved. I think Carrie captured that with these pics.

Busy, busy, busy

I found Riley "helping" me out with some of my work the other day. She dragged in her step-stool that we use to brush her teeth and got down to business. 

I asked her what she was writing (all over my meeting notes, by they way), she looked up at me with a patient expression and said "List, Mama."

Like mother, like daughter.

TWO! TWO! The Girl Is TWO!

Riley turned two years old today. In a few days, when I process this wild and crazy day, full of fun and friends and laughter and silliness, I'll write more about it. But for now, for tonight, I'll just say how grateful I am for this girl, and for the love, the lessons, the challenges, the triumphs, and the wholehearted joy she brings into my life. Oh, how I love this child.
